Christmas, in my family, has toned down quite a bit from the excesses of childhood. It does lead to some rather fascinating and wonderful gifts. Like Armenian brandy.

A good friend of Kate’s has held a “grownup prom” the last couple of years. He rents out the Cambridge Tennis Club building, hires a DJ, and invites all his friends to get pretty and party the night away.
