The answer to the Quiz o’ the Day: Governor Deval Patrick. My mom wins! Kate and I attended Men of Boston Cook for Women’s Health, which is a benefit for a couple of health centers in Dorchester. Many, many fantastic restaurants, and notable men from around the city serving up the food. It was, well…quite [...]
Today’s Quiz O’ The Day Who responded with “Aw, that’s so cute” yesterday when they met Kate and me? 1) former Governor Michael Dukakis; 2) former Speaker of the Mass. House Tom Finneran; 3) current Governor Deval Patrick There will be a prize for the winner…* * probably not, but I would enjoy seeing people’s [...]
Off to Chicago tomorrow, for the weekend. My old co-editor from the UofC Free Press (RIP) is getting married. Crashing with some Tea and Strumpets/ex-UofC folks, and looking forward to catching up…maybe I can find time to take advantage of one of the recommendations on Scrumptulescence while I’m there, too…hmmm… Life has been crazy busy, [...]
Things that have happened in the last week: – Mikey hosted a bachelor party for a friend of his from the Media Lab; – July 4th, had a barbeque at my place with a Kate, few friends, my family, Mikey and a few folks from the Media Lab; – Friday night, work did a boat [...]
Ultimate players are a little bit obsessed with Roshambo, known to most in the US as Rock, Paper, Scissors. Many of them study the strategy guides published by the World Rock, Paper, Scissors Society. They waste their time at work playing the Roshambot. And, most of all, they turn to Roshambo to avoid any kind [...]
I’ve been going to the gym just about every day for the past 4 or 5 months, but a few days ago some of the StudentUniverse folks got together to play soccer instead. We managed to get teams of 5, USA vs. the World. Team USA is a little confused The International All-Stars Ian Stefano [...]
Spent the evening of Memorial Day at a Red Sox game with Kate, Chad and Kelly, Brad, Phil and Megan, and Chad and Kelly’s friend Trica. Had quite a nice time, watched the Sox beat the Indians, and got to cheer for Trot on his return to Fenway. I swear that I, personally, had nothing [...]
I think Kali may have drawn this when I wasn’t looking. (It’s from XKCD, which is a great web comic.)
I spent most of last Saturday hanging out with Kate attending events at Harvard. Saturday afternoon was the Harvard Crossword Tournament, which was hosted by the Harvard Crossword Society and featured Will Shortz as guest speaker. I don’t know about those who read this thing, but for me this was a real blast from the [...]
Hans Wegner made some pretty kickin’ chairs. (Which I never would have known about if it weren’t for Witold Rybczynski’s piece in Slate today.)
Let me go on record, right now, as saying that Brady Quinn is not going to be a very good NFL quarterback.
Slate’s take on Barack’s first “ad”. (More Obama: here and here)
Check out The DevWikis Christmas Spectacular. The best Christmas movie ever. Seriously.
Do what Alternative Hippopotamus suggests…
Some photos of my new pad, courtesy of my roomie It’s a seriously money pad.
I’m tempted to just post this without explanation, but… So, the short story is that one of Kate’s co-workers has apparently taken to calling me “Easy E”. That, plus 5 minutes and access to Photoshop, is a little dangerous. Despite the picture, though, I would like to say…East Coast Represent!
Back in the day, I worked for (and later edited) the University of Chicago Free Press. In my junior year of college, one of the editors was a guy named Larry Schwartztol. Well, I’m pretty sure that he showed up again today, writing a very smart piece in Slate. Golly gee!
Lunch break today…not sure why one of my co-workers decided to take a picture, but hey…
Spent the weekend in Cooperstown, NY with FNG, playing at White Nights at the Brewery Ommegang. (They make some very, very wonderful beer, for those who don’t already know that). It was loads of fun, hanging with my team, drinking some good beer and too much crap beer (as sales of the good stuff were [...]
