Morgantown, WV, which is very close to my family’s property on the Cheat Lake, has one of the cooler mass transit systems that I’ve ever seen (though I’ve never had reason to ride it). The PRT is discussed in today’s New York Times. It’s worth checking out, if only for the wow factor.

Even cooler, and a lot less expensive than the $30-$40M price tag for the proposed expansion, is the amazing network of rail-trails, most of which are already in place or very close to it. It is one of the best in the country for either commuting or biking vacations since rail was the principal mode of transportation for the mining industry and after that died, the area was too poor to reallocate the rail rights-of-way to other uses. Go do both and report back whether I’m right.
