I spent most of last Saturday hanging out with Kate attending events at Harvard.

Saturday afternoon was the Harvard Crossword Tournament, which was hosted by the Harvard Crossword Society and featured Will Shortz as guest speaker.

I don’t know about those who read this thing, but for me this was a real blast from the past. When I was growing up, listening to “the puzzlemaster” on NPR on Sunday mornings was a normal part of the routine. It turns out that his normal speaking voice is a little different from how he sounds on the radio. Once he started to read puzzles, though, he sounded exactly he used to on Sunday morning. Quite a flashback.

Saturday afternoon was Yardfest, which is Harvard’s version of the normal college spring festival. It was raining by that point, but Kate and I were still able to have some fun with the inflatable gladiator pit thingy.
