The Fear

Posted on Friday 19 January 2007

I’ll be honest: this weekend’s Patriots-Colts playoff game scares me. I’m jumpy, and keep having disaster scenarios play in my head.

Yipes.

It would be oh so nice if Tom Brady would have one of his good games, instead of one of his bad ones (the latter have been all to frequent of late); if Ellis Hobbs would shut down Reggie Wayne, and maybe score another kickoff return touchdown in the bargain; if Richard Seymour would manage to sack Manning a couple of times in the first quarter, which should be enough to throw off his timing and make him a little skittish in the pocket; and if Laurence Maroney would break a couple for big yards (c’mon, the Pats only have two runs from scrimmage this year that are longer than 50 yards, and Dillon broke them both. Time to step up, Gopher).

Here’s hoping.

Meanwhile, if I see a little distracted between now and 6PM on Sunday, no need to wonder why…

i’m still unconvinced that maroney can run. i mean, yeah, he ran circles around people in college. but he’s looking suspiciously like edgerrin james: he dances too much before he hits the line. I’m predicting that he either gets better next year and has a 1100 yard season, or two years from now he’ll be frustrating someone like the St. Louis Rams.
