Interesting perspectives in the attractively-redesigned Slate on soccer, and more specifically on the art of the dive.

Dave Eggers says the dive is a symbol of why soccer, being a wussy sport, hasn’t caught on in the US.

Austin Kelley defends the dive. He says it’s a way of reminding the world that big, brutish, defensemen can only stop a skilled striker by beating him up.
