I’m such a sappy romantic. Good grief.
Currently in the slow cooker:
1 top round roast, about 1.8 lbs
1 onion, chopped
around 3 tbsp prepared horseradish, smeared on the outside of the roast
maybe 2 tbsp chopped garlic, rubbed on the outside of the roast
something like 1/2 cup mango
about 2 tsp of kosher salt
a light sprinkle of cayenne pepper
a splash of cider vinegar
All of the [...]
Just discovered that there’s a movie coming out in a couple of weeks called Prairie Home Companion, which looks like it’s going to be great. Robert Altman and Garrison Keillor are a pretty good start…
Jeffy’s decided to move in with some of the folks from his college blocking group (ah, Harvard) once our lease is up, which leaves me back in the apartment market. I’d been thinking about finding a one-bed apartment anyway, and this is just extra motivation.
Tomorrow I’m going to look at one of these places, [...]
Not feeling like my usual chipper self today, so working from home…this is a perfect day to sit on the porch with my laptop…
An hour of basketball yesterday, and then another 2.5 hours of ultimate practice, so I’m feeling a bit sore. Walking back from Thorndike along Mass Ave last night, my calves felt [...]
Props to Anna, one of the surfer chicks in my life, who arrives in Charleston, SC in a couple of days to take her place at the head of Red Five in NCCC class 13 (or somewhere around 13, I don’t remember exactly).
Good on ya, kid.
Started recently, and I’m really, really hoping that it keeps going…

I’ve been checking out General Elektriks this evening, after one of his videos popped up on the front page of Youtube. Good stuff, kind of a funk-hip hop vibe going on. Most of his recent work has been with the Quannum folks, and his main project, Honeycut, is opening for Blackalicious at the [...]
I sort of feel like I’ve gained a roommate over the past few weeks. I’m happy for Jeffy and all, but it is kind of strange having a two-bedroom apartment suddenly turn into a three-person apartment.
Maybe I’m just a little annoyed because there’s no additional person here sleeping in my bed? That sure [...]
Had one of those things this weekend where I met someone who seems pretty wonderful, who I’d like to see more of, and the timing is all wrong. That seems to happen to me more often than it does to anyone else I know.
I don’t get it.
The next week or so looks like it’s [...]
So, Get Ho Get Leid…
First, the team; several Chicago folks, some Oberlin folks, a couple of Monkeys…a wonderful crew. Very very cool group. For a lot of us, Saturday was the first time that we’d even met the folks we were playing with, but we gelled pretty quickly. Played a couple of [...]
Just got back from Get Ho Get Leid, and a positively amazing and wonderful weekend with many splendid people, some very good ultimate, and generally great fun all around.
I’ve run out of adjectives that competently describe just how great it was. That’s how great it was.
More later, but first, sleep.
In 12 hours from right now (which is to say, around 4:30 in the morning, but regardless) I’ll be at about the New Hampshire/Massachusetts border, headed to Vermont.
Yay!
No, this post doesn’t have anything to do with chickens. Just feeling like one of the headless sort at the moment.
Lots and lots going on right now; I’ve been busy from 7 this morning until just now, and tomorrow is going to be pretty crazy as well. That said, today was the last [...]
Just go watch this. I mean it. It’s about 60 seconds, and…wow.

107ocean.com is now up.
For those who have no idea what that means, 107 Ocean Street in Dorchester is the house in which I grew up. My mom is hoping to sell it in the next couple of months, and the website is a big part of that process. I actually kind of like [...]
Spent tonight hanging with Jeff and Joe and Tammy at the New England Real Ale Exhibition, in Davis. Basically, it’s a tasting festival for beer. In the past, it’s been a plethora of many wonderful beers. The wonderful factor is down a bit this year, but there’s still a lot of goodness.
Cambridge [...]
A guy I work with pointed out Improv Everywhere to me earlier today; sheer genius. The Best Buy mission was the one that had come to his attention first, but some of the others are better…
Seriously funny.
I wonder if there’s anyone around Boston who does stuff like this….if not, I wonder if I could [...]
